day 5 = the first day of rain we've had all week. very unusual, seeing as it's been monsooning nonstop for the past month. the rain, however, did not foil our plans to go to the dole pineapple plantation, hoorah! we went anyway...
... and we ate this monstrosity of a pineapple split. it was pure amazingness consisting of mounds of vanilla, pineapple, and mango ice cream topped with crushed pineapple, strawberry syrup, and coconut, all served on top of half of a pineapple. $8.75 not only filled the tummies of three hungry teenagers but also caused quite the ruckus among the tourists in the gift shop, one of whom actually came over and took a picture of it. yeah, it was like the epitome of deliciousness.
...then off to the world's largest maze for a friendly competition.
mind you, it was pouring rain when we got in...
...and of course, nancy was slowed down by taking artsy pictures like this one...
...and this one of ulrich. the goal was to find six hidden stations, at each of which you had to stencil in one of six boxes on your card. the first person to find all six wins.
i may have taken a few shortcuts...
...but i emerged victorious. this is me, er, triumpant. and we are all sopping wet.

dole plantation, hoorah!
...we then returned home where we changed into dry clothes and proceeded to make a fort. i have to say it was a quality fort. look at it, it's beautiful.
we sat inside and worked on our puzzle until kevin stole one of the walls, which was really his bed, and then we yelled at him for the rest of the night. we also ate the equivalent of two chickens. and then went to bed early.
